Your photos and check-ins stay on your device
Effective date: September 14, 2026. Last updated: 2026-10-01
Recomp is a local-first iOS app. Recomp never uploads your photos or weight, or the notes and other details you add to a check-in. It does not create an account for you and does not store your physique data on a Recomp server. It does send anonymous usage analytics and crash reports, with no tracking, and the section below lists what they contain.
What the app stores
Check-ins live in the app on your iPhone. Photos you import come from your Photos library; Recomp does not scan your camera roll in the background or send those images anywhere.
If you back up your phone with iCloud or a computer, those backups follow Apple’s rules — the same as the rest of your photos. That is your backup, not a Recomp upload.
What we do not do
- No photo upload to Recomp
- No social feed or sharing built into the app
- No AI body-fat estimates
- No advertising SDKs in the app for selling your data
- No tracking you across other apps or websites from the app
Anonymous usage analytics
The app can send anonymous usage analytics through PostHog: basic events such as a check-in created or edited, the compare screen opened, or a permission prompt answered, with simple counts and categories, plus device and app info (model, iOS version, app version, locale) and a random ID for that install. It does not use an account, identify you, or track you across apps (no IDFA), and it never sends photos, weight values, dates, measurements, notes, or any other text. Analytics include approximate location (city, region, and country) derived from your IP address, used only for anonymous analytics and not linked to your identity. The IP address itself is not stored. The app also sends anonymous error reports when something breaks: the error type and where in the app's code it happened, plus the same device and app info and random install ID, with messages trimmed so they do not include notes, photo names, or file paths.
This website
This website is a marketing site. It does not receive your in-app photos. It uses PostHog to record visits and clicks on these pages — not the contents of the app.
